New well-being strategy for Dubai private schools.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority has launched a new well-being strategy for Dubai private schools.

Education chiefs in Dubai have introduced an action plan to boost well-being among pupils and staff at the emirate’s private schools.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Dubai’s private education regulator, on Wednesday launched a new framework to help schools sharpen their focus on the mental health of the school population.

Wellbeing Matters aims to build on the findings of the Dubai Student Wellbeing Census and help schools to put well-being and mental health initiatives in place.

There will be an emphasis on unique needs of pupils and their families and to help develop an inclusive learning culture.

The report found that teacher well-being, and that of other staff members must be a core focus for school leaders.

Building on the legacy and the data provided by the five-year Dubai Student Wellbeing Census, many schools have already incorporated the values of well-being into their culture and practices,” said Fatma Belrehif, chief executive of Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau.

“This framework represents the next stage of our well-being journey, enabling us to work more closely with schools, teachers and parents to ensure better learning outcomes and happier, healthier futures for our children.

“We appreciate the insights of all the school leaders who worked with us to develop the framework.”

The report recommends that schools should focus on a pupil’s strengths and work towards creating a diverse school community.

The guide includes specific areas in which schools will be evaluated, such as how well schools are leading a well-being culture; how well they are listening to the needs of their pupils and staff members; and how they are creating policies and processes to improve pupil well-being.

The results of each school’s well-being evaluation will be published with its inspection report and parent summary report, due to be released in 2023.

The Dubai Student Wellbeing Census, conducted annually for five years, involved more than 100,000 pupils each year.

Schools received customised data reports that helped them to put initiatives in place and improve pupils’ well-being over time.

MEmob+ and GeoDB’s shared focus includes a decentralized wallet, with a vision of empowering people to earn rewards for the data they share. The soon-to-be-released decentralized wallet allows users to earn GeoTokens providing a secure bridge to the world of cryptocurrency.

Launched in 2009, GeoDB is a pioneer in the decentralized blockchain data-sharing ecosystem.

The digital wallet will be a major source of data collection for both companies, re-establishing the relevance of users as data creators and solidifying their presence as the core assets in a digital marketplace.

Both companies aim to attract a large number of users to the decentralized app, making it the main cryptocurrency wallet internationally.

MEmob+ will be able to gather first-party data from users, supported by the Open Data Interoperable Network protocol enabling efficient peer-to-peer transactions, which allows users to share their information anonymously while earning rewards for it.

“Over the last few years, MEmob+ has invested in blockchain technologies that will soon become critical in a world that is geared towards the metaverse, enabling users to use cryptocurrencies and NFTs (non-fungible tokens) in a virtual world,” said Ihab El Yaman, co-founder and CEO of MEmob+.

He added: “Third-party cookies are becoming obsolete, and consumers are now demanding more transparency and control over their information. AN INTERVIEW WITH A MEXICAN PROMISING BEAUTY: VIVIAN REYNOLDS in DUBAI

A young Mexican called Vivian Reynolds was crowned on Saturday, November 28, 2021, as International Top Model 2021 in Dubai, at a gala held at a luxury hotel in Creek Dubai. We believe we need to support and nurture talent and this girl has tons of it. Today we ask her some questions about modeling, and how was the experience of her first coronation.

THE INTERVIEW: VIVIAN REYNOLDS

Hi Vivian, tell us what is this International Top Model event in Dubai about?

This was the first edition of an International Modeling event in the United Arab Emirates. Held under the production of Prodigy Global Network and whose main objective is to discover and recognize new talents in the modeling industry.

How was your participation in this great Gala?

During the event, we carried out catwalks with four different styles. First, in the sustainability category, I modeled a wonderful suit alluding to the Phoenix bird, a creation by Darwin Perez. This look was the winner of the night. Later it was the category of black dress – creative. For it, I wore a modern dress with lace and transparency, with a highlight of a flower on the shoulder. A beautiful creation of the designer Aaronic Atelier. A catwalk with a sports brand followed. And to close, I wore a charming long dress, in a purple tone and crystals, the creation of designer Miley Cao.

How many countries were competing in the grand final?

It was a spectacular night and I achieved this triumph among finalists representing Russia, the Philippines, India, Kenya, and Sri Lanka.

You received several bands, please explain what they are about?

Without a doubt, it was a good night for me. I was fortunate to receive several recognitions. First as Senorita fotogenia, best photo session in boxing, best editorial. Also, I was named ambassador of the innovative sports brand KA-1.

How do you feel like the big winner of this event?

There are no words to describe the feeling! The moment when they said “Vivian Reynolds of Mexico” is the winner of the International Top Model 2021 in Dubai, I was over the moon. I am beyond happy and super grateful. None of this could have been possible without the support of the professionals of the production team, the great support of my family, even through social networks. Thanks to all of those who gave me their support and encouraged me to give my best during the three months that this great event lasted. Thank you very much to all “Viva Mexico”.

Dubai Super Cup: Arsenal clinch title

Two wins from as many appearances ensured that the Gunners finish at the top of the heap in the four-match, four-team tournament at Al Nasr Club’s Al Maktoum Stadium with eight points.

While the big dream is to win the English Premier League for the first time in 18 years, Arsenal did well to stay focused on immediate targets like winning the Dubai Super Cup 2022.

Two wins from as many appearances ensured that the Gunners finish at the top of the heap in the four-match, four-team tournament at Al Nasr Club’s Al Maktoum Stadium with eight points, which included two bonus points for winning the end-of-match penalty shootouts.

The Rossoneri will take on Liverpool in Friday’s concluding game of a tournament which was devised to help European teams to stay match-fit during the mid-season Winter break.

Arsenal have genuine hopes of winning the Premier League for the first time since the 2003-2004 season having made a solid start to the campaign with 12 wins from 14 matches to sit pretty at the top of the table, five points clear of Manchester City.

It is the first time since the 2007-2008 season that the North London outfit will spend Christmas Day as the outright leaders of the Premier League, the world’s most watched competition which is broadcast to an estimated audience of close to 5 million people.

Arsenal last won the Premier League in 2004 but the team’s Spanish coach Mikel Arteta will be happy with the nosiness end of the Dubai training camp where his squad held their own during a sustained second-half onslaught by the Italians who managed to pull one back through a brilliant Fikayo Tomori header following a scathing free-kick from Sandro Tonali in the 78th minute of the game.

Milan’s Bosnian midfielder came dangerously close to forcing the match into sudden death but was just off the mark with his attempt on goal.

Arsenal’s attacking midfield, Fabio Vieira, who had a good game, worked his way through the Italian side’s defence before telegraphing the ball to Nelson whose powerful first-timer was always going to find its intended target, despite some flying limbs.

Earlier, Martin Odegaard opened the scoring for Arsenal when he cleared the free-kick wall and sent his shot into the near top corner of the net well out of reach of Milan’s flat-footed Romanian keeper Ciprian Tătărușanu.

The English side kept the pressure on their opponents with deft passes and control of the midfield before they went 2-0 up when Reiss Nelson scored with the help of a big deflection.

Although they appeared to ease thing up a bit Arsenal showed just why they have recorded five wins from their last six matches and must now fancy themselves of having a real shot at Premiership glory.

The Gunners travel back to the UK where they will play Juventus in another friendly at the Emirates Stadium next weekend before they engage West Ham United (16th in the table) in a Boxing Day clash.

On the other hand Milan have scored three wins, one loss and a draw from their four recent fixtures.

Several players who were in Qatar on World Cup duty have now rejoined the squad in Dubai before they board a plane to Heathrow.

Milan’s Pierre Kalulu summed up Tuesday’s match when he told Dubai Sports Channel: “Obviously we wanted to win this, but we should be happy with the way we played against a top team like Arsenal.

UAE’s compulsory medical insurance for all – what will insurers do on basic premiums?

Early 2023 should see UAE confirm launch date for universal medical insurance.

Compulsory UAE-wide medical insurance will bring residents across all emirates under coverage. Insurance industry sources say basic medical insurance package premiums will differ with the emirate.

Dubai: With UAE planning compulsory health insurance across all emirates, citizens and residents will have more medical insurance plans to choose from. And even on what they need to pay as annual premium on their medical insurance.

But this need not mean that the basic health cover will be the same across each of the emirates, insurance industry sources say. Each emirate could have the flexibility to decide what its ‘basic’ healthcare insurance premium should be, they add.

“The basic plan premiums would be below the Dh1,000 bracket,” said a spokesperson at Dubai Insurance. “But a standardisation of rates in all the emirates will be quite unlikely due to differences in regulator guidelines and minimum benefits offered in the basic policy.”

The date for the UAE-wide compulsory medical insurance rollout is yet to be confirmed, but insurance and healthcare industry providers are hopeful that clarity on the launch will be provided early next year itself. Currently, only Dubai and Abu Dhabi have mandatory health insurance requirements for its residents, and which need to renewed annually.

AVERAGE MEDICAL INSURANCE PREMIUMS
In Dubai:
* For a child, it would start from Dh789.
* For the wife, the annual premium would be from Dh1,700.
* For investors and Golden Visa holders, the packages start from Dh900.
* For parents of residents, medical cover could start from Dh2,100.In Abu Dhabi:
* For those up to 17 years, the typical medical premium would start from Dh1,670.
* For 18-40, the average would be Dh2,000.
* There is an additional Dh750 for maternity.

A post-COVID boost for insurers

For the UAE’s insurance industry, this will be one of the biggest breaks coming their way, and at a time when the need for optimal healthcare coverage has never been felt this acutely before. Even in a post-COVID healthcare landscape.

“Once implemented, the new compulsory health insurance scheme in Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain could double the premium income from medical insurance of about Dh1 billion over the next two to three years,” said Emir Mujkic, Director and Lead Analyst – Insurance Ratings, S&P Global Ratings.

However, the exact premium income will depend on the exact pricing, the table of benefits, and timing of the implementation, which remain uncertain at this stage.

COVID had done its part in ensuring that residents did not treat coming under medical cover as a mere process to be done for residency permits and other government-facing requirements.
