Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif and Etihad reunion

The airline from Abu Dhabi wants to increase its appeal to tourists from India.
Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has been appointed as Etihad Airways’ newest brand ambassador.

According to a Tuesday announcement by Etihad, the move comes as the Abu Dhabi carrier increases its footprint in the Indian market.

One of the highest-paid actresses in India, Kaif says, “I am happy to be returning with Etihad Airways, a company synonymous with world-class travel experiences.

“I am thrilled to be a member of a team that seeks to develop thoughtful bonds and enduring experiences. I’m excited to represent Etihad and share in their journey.

The actress will appear in Etihad’s advertising videos as a result of the new agreement.

The first advertisement for the campaign, released on Tuesday, has Kaif traveling on the airline’s newest A350 aircraft while showcasing the cabin’s opulent features, including dining ware by Armani/Casa.
Etihad affirms this in the 46-second Bollywood-styled clip that Kaif released with her 76 million Instagram followers. “Etihad believes in going the extra mile,” she says.

The actress has previously collaborated with the Abu Dhabi airline; in 2010 she was a part of a number of their advertising campaigns.

With the help of the collaboration, Etihad intends to increase its appeal to travelers from India.

Amina Taher, vice president of brand, marketing, and sponsorship at Etihad, said: “With [Kaif’s] amazing journey and recognition worldwide, we’re not only demonstrating Etihad’s offerings, but also fostering genuine relationships that genuinely resonate with Indian travelers and celebrating our commitment to India.

Currently, Etihad offers flights to eight Indian cities.

Updated tourist home regulations in Abu Dhabi now cover farms

As the government broadens the scope of short-stay permits, tourists will soon be able to have a taste of rural life. Now, property owners can convert their properties into vacation homes.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi changed its license rules on Wednesday to provide farm owners with more opportunities to make money while diversifying the types of vacation houses that are accessible in the emirate.

Travelers can already take vacations in RVs and caravans.

Additionally, landlords are now permitted to possess numerous vacation home licenses for buildings with multiple units, expanding the investment options available to both investors and property management firms.

The department’s director general for tourism, Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, claims that the development will benefit Abu Dhabi’s hospitality and agritourism sectors.

He continues, “It is essential that we continue to provide guests with distinctive and sustainable experiences that represent our rich legacy and famous Emirati hospitality as the emirate observes tremendous tourism growth.
Farm owners are invited to create Emirati-led agri-tourist activities for travelers looking for novel experiences in the United Arab Emirates as a result of the new rule, which comes before the launch of a more thorough regulatory framework designed to encourage licensing and promote farmhouse tourism.

Owners of farms who want to register their dwellings as vacation rentals can find a thorough guidebook on the department’s website. The process can be started by landlords after a six-month grace period.

As demand for the industry rises, there has been a push for vacation houses and hotel alternatives in the UAE in recent years.

For more than ten years, Dubai has permitted vacation homes. In August of last year, Sharjah introduced a legislative framework for its Holiday Homes Project, allowing residents to rent out homes for transient visits.

Additionally, last year, Airbnb negotiated a contract with Abu Dhabi under which the emirate would have access to the company’s City Portal, which offers information and analysis on the rental market there.

In order to assist new and existing hosts in Abu Dhabi in understanding the regional regulations for vacation rentals, the firm also established a special “responsible hosting” page.

A heartfelt 9/11 memorial and the influence of retail tourism

One retired cabin crew member who operated for United Airlines until 2013 is commemorating the 22nd anniversary of the September 11 attacks in a very emotional way.

To better serve Mexico, Emirates has increased its codeshare with United back in the United Arab Emirates, and it has also increased its collaboration with the Greek airline Aegean Airlines.

In case you missed it, here is a summary of current travel and tourist headlines.

Former flight attendant commemorates September 11
An innovative tribute from a retired United Airlines flight attendant honors the flight crew members who perished in the 9/11 attacks.

Pushing an airline cart from Newark Liberty International Airport to Washington Dulles International Airportto flight 93 national memorial stoystown is Paul Veneto, who worked for the US airline from 1997 until 2013.

Paulie’s Push, a campaign to commemorate the 20th anniversary, launched in 2021. Veneto ran between the 9/11 National Memorial in New York and Boston Logan International Airport during its first year of operation. From the Boston airport in 2022, he traveled to the Pentagon National Memorial.

His greatest stretch to date will cover more than 300 miles during this year’s attempt.

The impact of retail tourism is made clear.

Global Retail Tourism: Trends and Insights, a research released last week by the World Travel & Tourism Council, is “set to change the way we think about shopping tourism,” according to the organization.

Retail tourism was a $178 billion market in 2019, despite the sector’s historical underresearchation. The data demonstrates that since the pandemic, shopping has become more than just a pastime. The release states that it “shapes travel decisions, improves destination appeal, boosts foreign exchange earnings and promotes local brands and products.”

“Retailtainment” is a new trend that combines retail with entertainment and is already big in the UAE. The study demonstrates that tourists seek out opulent brands that reflect a city’s culture as well as real products.

“Retail tourism is no longer just about buying mementos, it’s a driving force supporting the recovery of the travel and tourism sector, adding significantly to job creation, revenue, and economic growth,” said Julia Simpson, president and chief executive of the WTTC.

Emirates will take part at Oktoberfest.

Fleischpflanzerl, a minced beef steak dish with butter, veal jus, vegetables, and sauerkraut, is the main course. There will also be traditional German breads available, followed by apple-based treats.

Taking a night train through Europe

Speaking of Germany, a sleeper service that had been discontinued for nine years is now being offered again between Berlin and Paris.

The Nightjet train, operated by the Austrian company OBB, will resume operations in December with three weekly journeys before returning to daily operation by October of the following year.

At 7.12 p.m., trains leave Paris Gare de l’Est and arrive in Berlin at 8.26 a.m., whereas the Berlin to Paris leg runs between 8.18pm and 10.24am.

As rates are anticipated to start at approximately €50 for a bed, it also makes stops in Strasbourg, Mannheim, Erfurt, and Halle, giving tourists even another more cheap way to discover Europe.

In October, tickets go on sale.

More flights are now available from the UAE.
Flydubai has declared the beginning of daily flights to Sphinx International Airport in Cairo, bringing the total number of weekly excursions to Egypt to 18. Due to an increase in demand for travel between the two cities, the service will launch on October 29.

While this is going on, Emirates has expanded two codeshare agreements, making it simpler for its customers to travel to Greece and Mexico. In addition to Mexico City, where Emirates already flies, the airline’s partnership with United was expanded to encompass eight locations in the Central American nation. As a result, travelers can connect in either Chicago or Houston before flying to Cancun, Cozumel, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, San Jose Del Cabo, Leon (Guanajuato), and Queretaro.

For travel beginning on Thursday, tickets are available on the airline’s website or through the preferred travel agencies.

Aegean Airlines and Emirates have strengthened their collaboration, enabling travellers from Dubai to make a stopover in Athens before taking advantage of the links the Greek airline offers to well-known locations across Europe. Customers of Aegean can also take use of Emirates’ service on flights between Athens and Dubai and between Athens and Newark with a stopover in Dubai.
