The United Arab Emirates propose the establishment of a federation of the Gulf ski federation their participation in the annual meetings of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), held in Vilamoura, Portugal. The initiative aims to advance the development of winter sports in the Gulf region.
The proposal received broad support from FIS members, who welcomed the initiative and expressed their support for the formation of the Federation, recognizing their promising potential to foster skiing in the Gulf countries.
The EAU participate in the meetings, which opened on May 5 and conclude tomorrow, through a delegation of the Eau Winter Sports Federation, as a FIS member since 2021. This membership has allowed the participation of the country champion of more than 48 countries.
FIS’s meetings also presented the second edition of the seminar entitled “Bridging the Gaps: Building Together inclusive sports leadership”, which emphasized the conservation of biodiversity as a key pillar of sustainability in sports. The seminar included representatives of 35 national federations, aligning with the commitment of the EAU to support both regional and worldwide ski sports.
