ABU Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) has signed a 24-year-old energy purchase agreement (PPA) with Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) to build, possess and operate the open cycle gas from 1-Gigowatt (GW) to the DHAFRA.
Taqa, with a 100 percent property, will lead the OGT project and undertake the operation and maintenance (R&M) of the plant. The Taqa transmission, part of the Taqa group, will develop an advanced infrastructure of the electricity network to integrate the additional generation capacity to new sources of energy demand, allowing access to a reliable power with a low carbon footprint.
Taqa leads energy change
The new 1GW capacity adds to the Giga project to the most worldwide world world worldwide announced worldwide will be the combined solar energy and largest battery system in the world (Bess).
The collaboration between EWEC, Taqa and MASDAR will boost the investment of around 36 billion ($ 9.8 billion) in energy supply infrastructure in Abu Dhabi. About 75 percent of the investment will be in renewable and conventional energy generation. The remaining 25 percent will be invested in network infrastructure, which will be added to the regulated asset base and collect regulated yield.
The new project is aligned with the Eau National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 and the NET initiative of the EAU for 2050.
Taqa is one of the largest public service companies in Europe, Middle East and Africa, while EWEC is a leading company in planning services, purchases, supplies and electricity systems of planning, purchase, supply and systems throughout the EAU.
Jasim Tabet, Group Ceo and Managing Director of Taqa and Vice Chairman of Masdar, Commeable: “Reliable Providing Low-Carbon Power Plays an Important Role in Enabating The Global Energy Transition. EWEC supplies more than 55 percent of the Emirate’s energy demand through renewable and clean energy sources. In addition, more than 92 percent of the water production is supplied through the latest inverse generation osmosis, reducing water production emissions of 16 kilograms per cubic meter (kg/m³) in 2021 to 1 kg/m³ by 2031.
Ahmed Ali Ali -omsi, executive director of EWEC, added: “EWEC is pleased to associate with Taqa in transformative initiatives that will not only enhance the ambitions of the EAU, but also accelerate the energy transition of the nation.
“By creating an energy framework for the future that integrates next -generation renewable energy technologies and advanced transmission solutions, this collaboration establishes a new global reference point for sustainable energy systems that balanas that are being shot that balance that balances the capacity.
“As the EAU transitions in the future with AI, we are creating the basis for a future where advanced technologies can flourish while fulfilling the country’s environmental and economic objectives with a vision of the future.”
