The Ajman (ATA) transport authority, in collaboration with BPC, a world leader in payment solutions, announced the launch of an open and contact -free payment system for public buses.

The new payment system, driven by the BPC O-City platform, is the first phase of the next-generation rates collection solution for transport and smart cities sectors.

Through this step, the authority aims to provide passengers with a perfect multimodal travel experience and promote digital transformation in the public transport sector.

The system allows passengers to make payments by easily and safely using bank cards, smart payment methods such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and even portable payment devices, such as smart watches, facilitating transportation and improving user experience.

Smart payment devices have now been installed in all public transport buses. The service has been activated on internal routes, with plans to expand it to include external routes in the next period, said Ajman Transport Authority.

The Smart Masar Travel application has also developed, allowing passengers to plan their trips, track bus locations in real time, link their bank cards and see their travel history.

The project includes an advanced system to calculate rates based on areas and stops.

Abeer Goumaa, director of Services Provision for the Middle East and North Africa in O-City, said that delivering the innovative open loop system in such a short time was only possible thanks to the professional and transportation authority of the professional team.

“His strategic vision and collaborative approach allowed O-City to be implemented quickly and efficiently,” he said.
