This project aims to support continuous development, address the demands of urban and demographic growth, improve traffic flow and facilitate the movement of residents and visitors throughout the Emirate.

The work includes the construction of a bridge that covers 1,425 meters, with four lanes in each direction, for AED786m ($ 214 million).

Mattar al Tayer, general director, president of the Board of Executive Directors of the Road and Transportation Authority (RTA), said: “The project implies the construction of a direct entry and exit for the Dubai Islands project from the side of Bur Dubai. A bridge on Dubai Creek will be built, between the infinite bridge and the Port Shyid development area.

“The bridge will have approximately 1,425 meters long, with four lanes in each direction, and a total capacity of 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.

“The bridge will rise to 18.5 meters above the surface of Dubai Creek, and the navigation channel will be 75 meters wide, allowing several types of boats to pass through the stream.

“The project also includes the construction of a dedicated track of pedestrians and cycling that connects both ends of the bridge, with elevators to facilitate the movement of pedestrians and cyclists.

“In addition, surface roads will be built that extend 2,000 meters to connect the bridge with existing roads on both sides of the Dubai Islands and the Bur Dubai areas.

“This project refesses the second contract under the project to build entry and exit points for the Dubai Islands. In collaboration with Dubai Holding, RTA completed a project in 2020 that involved building three voltage bridges of a total of 1.6 km.

“It included a two -lane bridge that facilitates free flow traffic from the Dubai Islands to Al Khaleeej street to the north, a three -lane bridge that allows soft traffic from the Dubai islands to the street Al Khaleej Samle Sam ALO-Layas.

“The Dubai islands access project is part of the corridor development project to Shindagha, one of RTA’s key strategic road projects currently in Progreso.

“This massive project implies developing 15 intersections on a 13 km section, and has been divided into five phases due to its scale. The corridor will serve the areas of Deira and Bur Dubai, along with several Key Develon, Deirijai, Andland Island’s.

“The project is expected to benefit around one million people. In addition, the development of the corridor will reduce the travel time of 104 minutes to only 16 minutes, producing an estimated savings of almost Aed45 billion ($ 12.3) of about 20 years.”
