The Dubai road and transport authority (RTA) has implemented Lidar technology (light and range detection) to monitor road assets, significantly improving the accuracy of data for digital twin platforms.
The initiative aims to develop preventive, predictive and proactive maintenance strategies as part of the rediscovery of intelligent technologies in highway assets.
RTA hugs Lidar technology
“Lidar technology offers a remarkable impulse in performance and speed, delivering up to 300 percent compared to traditional visual inspections. This dedication of progress of the RTA to the acceleration of the digital transformation and the levers of the reduction of the network of the reduction of the headquarters, the long -term resilience and most of most of the concern. Emirates news agency (WAM).
According to Banna, technology provides up to 95 percent precision compared to conventional evaluation methods, allowing better maintenance decisions.
It also allows a safer inspection of high assets along roads and main roads, including lighting posts, traffic signs and road signs.
“Lidar allows the daily evaluation of up to 80 km of roads, which represents an improvement of 96 percent on traditional methods, which generally cover only 3 km,” he explained to Banna, and added that technology can operate at speeds between 30 and Hashout dislinations
The RTA Executive stressed that Lidar offers precise data and analysis of asset conditions, which supports long -term sustainability of the asset condition (ACI) index.
This facilitates effective programming or maintenance activities and helps prioritize interventions based on strategic criteria, reinforcing the sustainability and operational efficiency of Dubai’s road infrastructure.
