The Abu Dhabi police have issued a warning about scammers that attract victims through deceptive tactics, such as placing ads and holding false auctions for luxury watches on social media platforms.

The victims are deceived to transfer funds, only to receive falsified watches after the inspection.

The Police also highlighted fraudulent commercial platforms where scammers publish professional appearance ads that use official -looking profiles to increase credibility.

Abu Dhabi Police Warning

Once the victim deposits money, the platform simulates the growth of profits (false) to gain their trust and encourage more deposits. However, when victims try to withdraw their funds, they cannot do it.

The Abu Dhabi Police urged the public not to pay any deposit for the number or ownership of false vehicles, and to be careful with the scam website that perch as insurance suppliers or popular brands of restaurants and retailers.

These fraudulent platforms have attractive offers to attract users to pay fees, after which scammers withdraw the victim’s banking card.

Employment applicants were also quoted on “false employment” scams, where the scammers exploit official events by creating false profiles online of agencies or recruitment partners.

These scams involve charging rates of applicants for jobs that do not exist.

The public was advised not to share any confidential personal information, including:

  • Account or card details
  • Online banking passwords
  • Automatic cashier
  • Card safety codes
  • Verification codes

The Abu Dhabi police emphasized that no legitimate employee of the bank would ever request such information.

Residents were urged to report any fraud attempt or suspicious calls of unknown people who asked to update the bank data.

Reports can be made visiting the nearest police station or contacting the AAN service in 8002626 or sending a text message to 2828, in support of continuous efforts to combat online fraud and protect the community.
