The Welsh Teen Record who has lost little time to cause a great impression when it comes to 400m

In 2009, Jodie Williams recorded his name in record books by establishing a British 400 m brand of children under 17 years or 54.95. At that time, the athlete who successfully successfully successfully had a small leg born.

Fast advance to Birmingham in February this year, and Darcy Coslett, 15, rewritten the story. In the British Indoor championship, the young Welsh sprinter surprised the spectators when running 54.50 in their heat. He finished second behind his model to follow, Amber Anning, and advanced to his first senior semifinal. The Welsh Indoor 400M Sub-20 champion continued to impress the next day, since it also made the semifinals of 200 meters with 24.61.

Having turned 16, the Llanelli athlete is still wrapping his head what he has achieved, especially, he only started running the 400 meters a year ago. Now, with a national record under his credit and a sample of the higher level competition, he has been pressing much more in a training camp in Portugal with an eye on the outdoor season.

How did you get into athletics?
I used to play a lot of football when I was young and play in the wing because it was very fast. Also me

There was a career, jump and launch program and I was very good at launch and the jump, but I loved the race, so I kept going from there.

How did that transition to the races of more than 400 m?
I used to make many 75m and 150m races when I was younger, but I preferred 150m because I liked the longest sprints. When I grew up, I did the 200m and the 300m and I loved it, so I cools the 400m Go for the first time last year and it was very painful, but very funny.

I am still old enough to run 400m at my age level because I am still in the U-17 category, so I do some here and there, but it is my favorite event.

How was it competing in the British Interior Championship?

The atmosphere was something that I had never experienced before. When you leave the crowd, it is very noisy, but it was very motivating and being in the same heat that Amber Anning was incredible. In the first 200 meters it went hard and then, when I reached the last curve, I was obviously decreasing because it was only the heat, but that really helped me catch me and was very inspiring.

I was very nervous, especially when the television camera arrived because it was my first time on camera, but it was actually quite fun.

When did you realize that you had broken the 400 m British record of 400 m of U-17?
Before that competition, I was definitely pointing to the record, because I had run some close times but, crossing the line … Amber crossed first and I just saw 54.31 [Anning’s time] Flash and knew it, I was surprised.

How did you feel the long data record?
At first, I didn’t, how long was Leging, and then, when I saw him on Instagram, he surprised me. The record has been maintained since 2009, before it ended. I was equally more surprising because it was Jodie Williams’s record and she is an incredible athlete.

Who do you most admire?
When I got into athletics, I loved seeing Dina Asher-Smith. She was the first athlete to really inspire and take me to sport. I also love the Laviai and Lina Nielsen. I love following them online and I think their content is very inspiring, especially because they make events similar to me.
Closer to home, Hannah Brier is a great model to follow for me. She really gives me a lot of support and help.

What is it like to represent Wales as a young athlete?
I receive a lot of support from Wales. I am in the National Development Program and many people from there really help you and motivate you. It is very nice to get achievements of your support.

I have a recent section to Monte Gordo in Portugal with Welsh athletics for a training camp. I get last year and it is an incredible experience for young athletes. We go for 10 days, it is very difficult, but it is very fun and I can meet so many incredible athletes from around the world.

What would Darcy say to young Darcy when he started running?
Work hard and enjoy everything you do and do not press too much.
