ABU Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) has signed a 24-year-old energy purchase agreement (PPA) with Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) to build, possess and operate the open cycle gas from 1-Gigowatt (GW) to the DHAFRA.

Taqa, with a 100 percent property, will lead the OGT project and undertake the operation and maintenance (R&M) of the plant. The Taqa transmission, part of the Taqa group, will develop an advanced infrastructure of the electricity network to integrate the additional generation capacity to new sources of energy demand, allowing access to a reliable power with a low carbon footprint.

EWEC supplies more than 55 percent of the Emirate’s energy demand through renewable and clean energy sources.
