I am an experienced journalist with about 20 years of media experience, of which the last 16 years include working in Dubai. I have a passion to create engaging content for print, digital and social media. I also have working knowledge of SEO and keyword research.
I currently work as a personal finance journalist for The National.
I also worked as the Editor at the MENA region’s leading property portal, Property Finder. Prior to this, I was a senior business reporter with Khaleej Times in Dubai for four years. I specialized in covering the property sector and other business beats. I was also a part-time news anchor for Khaleej Times’ Daily News broadcast. I published and scheduled content for the newspaper’s LinkedIn and Facebook pages.
I liaised with different departments, including design, photography and marketing, to ensure we met the demands of the business. I produced content on a variety of affairs, met frequently with the pagination team and designers to discuss projects, planned the content of the publication as per style, editorial policy and publishing requirements, rewrote and edited copy to improve readability, detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
Before this, I worked as a production journalist with Gulf News in Dubai for six years. I was recruited as a sub-editor for Property Weekly, Gulf News in 2008, but eventually rose in the ranks to become a full-fledged features writer. As a senior member of the team, I was required to cover for the editor in his absence.
I was closely involved in creating and implementing an editorial calendar in tandem with my editor, designers, photographers, and liaised with the ad sales department for maximum profitability of the magazine.
Prior to joining Gulf News, I have worked with all leading newspapers in India, including the Times of India, The Hindu, The New Indian Express. I also had a brief stint at NDTV, India’s leading English news channel, in New Delhi.
