Taking up a pair or ecological shoes at Allbirds is a delight. For daily use, the Tree Dasher 2 presents an upper part of a piece for convenience without seam, a slightly padded heel and a flexible padding. We find that this shoe is a reliable neutral adjustment for short to moderate distances. If you are looking for sustainable path racing shoes, Trail Runners runners have 4 mm multidirectional ears for a greater grip on multiple land. Once again, very reliable and something that we have tried up to 10 miles without blisters (something that we are prone to obtain, also with socks without ampoule).
We have made a deep immersion in the sustainability of Allbirds, but for the sake of brevity, here is the summary:
For overlapping, they use Merino, Tencel ™ Lyocell with FSC certification or a mixture of both. The SWIFTFOAM ™ Midole has 48% of Bio Bio bean oil, and the Sweetfoam® Midole is made with sugar cane sugar cane. The advantages are made of natural rubber certified by FSC. Other sustainable materials include biological base TPU, biological and recycled polyester nylon.
Keep in mind that none of the current styles is vegan, since only the Dasher of the tree contains a regenerative merino wool certified by ZQ, the entire coating.
Vietnam, Vietnam, certified the Bor Ethical Footwear Factory in Hai Phong, is part of the best work program and suppliers must fulfill their code of conduct, which prohibits forced labor, irrazonable work hours and more.
In addition to being neutral in carbon by compensating 100% of emissions, their flight plan details the ways in which they plan to reduce emissions, as if all factories operate the use of 100% renewable energy by 2025.
In 2022, they achieved an emission reduction of 12%. Each pair is labeled with its carbon footprint and is sent in a bag all in one, box and mail made of recycled cardboard of 90% after consumption.
