Abu Dhabi Police issue social media Ramadan scam warning

The Abu Dhabi Police have issued a warning on fraudulent social networks of Ramadan, who deceive users to share personal bank details under the appearance of claiming an award.

Police also warned against false charity ties on social networks that are passed through legitimate organizations.

Major General Mohammed Suhail at Rashidi, director of the Criminal Security Sector of the Abu Dhabi Police, explained that the scammers convince victims that they have won cash awards, only to demand payments or personal information to process the reward.

They urged the public to verify the authenticity of such competitions, avoid sharing confidential data and informing any suspicious activity.

He also emphasized the importance of remaining attentive to online fraud and adhere to cyber security guidelines.
