Maintaining with the stratospheric growth of Dubai and the mobility requirements of the city, the road and transport authority (RTA) said it recorded substantial growth in the vehicle rental sector in 2024 compared to 2023.
The Department of Commercial Transport Activities of the RTA License Agency revealed that 867 new rental companies were registered Duration 2024. This brings the total number of rental companies operating in Dubai to 3,494, 33 percent more than 2,627 in 2023.
Dubai vehicle rental arises

Mahboon added that the RTA was dedicated to continuous improvement and excellence in service by providing innovative solutions that address the needs of the private sector. This includes aligning the provision of services with specific requirements of the sector to improve customer satisfaction and strengthen confidence in the commercial and investment environment of Dubai.
“The growth of the activity within the vehicle rental sector, both in terms of the number of vehicles and of registered companies, underlines the pioneering role of RTA in the facilitation of commercial operations in this domain. This progress has been promoted by the continuous improvement of the quality of the service and the incentives, together with the development of the regulatory and integrated framework of the former.
RTA has also launched several initiatives that reinforce support for the commercial transport sector, including steps such as the “Commercial Vehicle Life Extension Service” and the “Commercial Vehicle Rental Service per hour”.
According to the ‘Commercial Vehicle Extension Service’, companies can extend the operational useful life of vehicles that have exceeded the permitted limit. The extension of one year is subject to the vehicle that passes the technical inspection requirements.
‘Commercial vehicle rental service per hour’ allows people to rent commercial transport vehicles in a basic, safer and more efficient and more efficient services provision.
The RTA has also introduced the ‘commercial licensing system’, which has simplified the customer’s trip by simplifying application procedures for new investors and providers of existing services, while improving the governance and issuance of the approval process.
