Dubai has announced a new important health law, since it seems to protect people’s well -being in the Emirate.
The law contains guidance on the dissemination of communicable diseases, as well as protocols for incoming visitors with alleged conditions.
In his capacity as Dubai ruler, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the EAU, issued Law No. (5) or 2025 on Public Health in Dubai.
Dubai Health Law
The law establishes an integral framework to promote public health and safeguard community and environmental well -being by focusing on disease prevention, medical care, food and product safety, and sustainable efforts to improve the quality of lightness.
The law also seeks to minimize health risks that affect people and communities in Dubai through precautionary measures and evidence -based practices that are aligned with local and international health regulations.
It promotes greater coordination and collaboration at all levels to strengthen the preparation and response to face public health challenges throughout the Emirate.
In addition, the law aims to increase public awareness of health risks and prevention methods, promote shared welfare responsibility and promote a sustainable environment that attracts investment.
In addition, it seeks to improve the global position of the EAU in public health competitiveness.
The law defines the roles and responsibilities of the relevant authorities in the management of communicable diseases.
This includes local government entities responsible for supervising public health in Dubai and enforcing the law, such as Dubai:
- Health authority
- Municipality
- Environment and climate change authority
- Academic Health Corporation
- Corporation for ambulance services
The law also describes the duties of medical care providers in Dubai, including public and private facilities licensed by the Dubai health authority.
People infected or suspended from having a communicable disease should avoid contact that can spread the disease.
They must eliminate from traveling or moving, except for medical care facilities, without the approval of Dubai’s health authority.
The law also prohibits concaling infections or spreading them, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and requires people to comply with measures to prevent the spread of the disease, following the guidelines issued by the authorities and the care of the relevant greetings.
Travelers must adhere to official health protocols, provide requested information at the entry points and inform any suspended or confirmed transmissible disease.
They must also observe hygiene measures, such as using masks and maintaining physical distancing, in line with approved guidelines.
In addition, the law describes the responsibilities of the relevant authorities in food security, the specifications for food -related establishments and sets for consumer products activities.
It also details responsibilities in areas such as the health of the environment, environmental health, labor accommodations, tobacco control (under the municipality of Dubai), pest control and the role of the Dubai health authority in health management.
The law requires full cooperation between public and private entities in the Emirate and the relevant authorities to help them fulfill their responsibilities.
This includes sharing data and statistics related to public health matters covered by law.
This law replaces any prior legislation that can conflict with its provisions. It enters into force 90 days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
