Dr. Maitha Buhumaid, general secretary of the Arab media award, said the prize celebrates the talent and content of exceptional Arab media that combines strong journalistic values with awareness of current developments. Jasim Al Shamsi, director of the Arab Media Award, stressed that the prize constantly strives to stay relevant to the panorama of the fast volume media. The Arab media prize includes three categories: journalism, digital media and television. The journalism category includes prizes for political journalism, research reports and economic journalism. The television category includes prizes for the best economic program, best social program, best cultural program, best sports program and the best documentary. The ‘personality of the year’s media’ award, decided by the Board of Directors, honors an influential figure of Arab media whose work has molded significantly and enriched the media landscape in the region. The Board also determines the ‘best columnist’ award, based on a set of defined criteria.
The Arab media prize is being organized as part of the Arab media summit, which will also feature the third forum of Arab youth media on May 26, followed by the 23rd edition of the Arab Media Forum on May 27 and 28, together with the Summit of Inflectors of Arab Social Media. The Summit presents independent ceremonies of honor for the winners of the Media of the Arab media, the Prize for the influencers of Arab Social Medias and the Award Ibda’a – Arab Youth Media Award.
