The ports, Customs and the Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) and the Ghana Government have signed a memo (Mou) historical to establish the first economic zone and Ghana digital incubator in ACCRA. The initiative aims to accelerate the transformation of the country into a regional technology power, attracting investment in Western Africa.
The Mou was signed by Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, president of PCFC, and Hon. Samuel Nartey George, Minister of Communication of Ghana, Digital Technology and Innovation.
According to the agreement, an area of 25 square kilometers will be assigned in ACCRA to PCFC for the development of the economic zone. PCFC will direct the operations in the area and attract global technology companies, facilitating commercial investment and expansion. The MOU also includes joint efforts to establish digital infrastructure and property development within the area.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem affirmed that PCFC’s commitment to support the overall scope of the EAU and share Dubai’s pioneering experience in innovation and economic development. “This initiative underlines our strategic relationships worldwide and reinforces the role of PCFC as a key taxpayer for knowledge and economy based on Dubai’s innovation. The area will play a fundamental role in attracting global companies and talent, positioning ACCRA as a destination of choice in the international scenario.”
PCFC will implement and manage advanced digital infrastructure in the area to support the growth of Africa local and regional companies. The project will provide a robust platform for innovation, investment opportunities that will enhance global and local expansion.
The dedicated teams from both countries specialized in AI and investment will administer the area, fostering innovation, business growth and regional connectivity. The collaboration aims to train local communities, merchants and investors, promoting inclusive and sustainable economic progress throughout the continent.
