The United Arab Emirates have been chosen for the United Nations Narcotic Drug Commission (CND) for a period of four years from 2026 to 2029 to 2029 as representative of the Asia-Pacific group after an election at the UN headquarters in New York.
The EAU are represented by the Ministry of Interior, and the successful candidacy reflects the strong diplomatic ties of nations with regional and global partners and their influential role in integrated and integrated efforts to combat narcotics worldwide.
EAU chosen for CND
The CND is the main forum to shape the global drug policy and helps monitor the implementation of international drug control treaties. He has critical responsibilities under various international drug control conventions and guides international collaboration to address drug -related challenges. It also helps maintain a balanced global approach for drug supply and demand.
The EAU will join Pakistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrguistan as representatives of the Asia-Pacific group in the Commission, a key subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The country will now play an active role in the configuration of international drug policies.
The Commission meets annually to adopt drug control resolutions.
