UAE Fatwa Council says Zakat Al Fitr can be paid in cash

The Eau Council for Fatwa has confirmed the permissibility of giving Zakat to Fit in cash, establishing a recommended AED25 value per person in 1446 AH.

Zakat al Fitr is a mandatory obligation for all Muslims with financial capacity, regardless of age or gender.

The head of the Home is responsible for fulfilling this obligation on behalf of his spouse, children and dependents.

In a statement before Eid al Fitr, the Council explained that Zakat al Fit is mandatory, according to the Ibn Omar Hadiz, “Allah’s Messenger (Pbuh) has made Sadaqat al Fit a fit mandatory, (and was), he eithe one.”

The Eau Council for Fatwa declared that Zakat al Fit ascends 2.5 kg of rice per person and can be done in kind (such as rice) or in cash.
