UAE ranks 10th globally in Open Data Inventory report – Technology

The EAU occupied the tenth place worldwide in the Open Data Inventory Report 2024/2025 (ODIN), issued by Open Data Watch (ODW), the main countries of size, such as Sweden, Netherlands, Germany, Canada and the United States.

This marks a new milestone for the country, reinforcing its global leadership in the adoption of concepts of digital government and open data.

The Odin 2024/25 Biennial Report, published by The Open Data Watch, evaluates the opening and integrity of the data published on the National Statistical Offices websites in 197 countries. It covers vital sectors, including economic, financial, social and environmental statistics, which makes it one of the world’s main specialized reports.

The classification of the report is based on 64 indicators that measure the availability of statistical data provided by countries through official open data platforms and evaluate whether they meet international opening standards. This includes criteria such as data ready for the machine, data discharges without restrictions, availability of metadata and comprehensive geographic coverage.

The EAU said the first place worldwide in several indicators, including monetary and banking statistics, food safety and nutrition, and prices and inflation index, where it advanced in 45 ranges. He also occupied second place worldwide in the global commercial index and the index of educational results, with a 54 -ranking jump, along with other indicators such as the environment, health and gender balance.

Majed Sultan al Meshmar, general director of the Regulatory Authority of the Telecommunications and Digital Government (TDRA) government, stressed that the achievement reflects Eau’s commitment to a vision with a vision of the developed future.

He pointed out that the EAU have established themselves as a global platform for decision -based decision and a leader in comprehensive digital transformation in the region and worldwide.

“This achievement demonstrates the role of the EAU in the improvement of the country’s digital preparation through the development of legislative and regulatory frameworks, supporting national open data policies and providing a strong digital infrastructure and guaranteeing the reference between the adoption of digital government concepts, transparency and innovation driven by data,” he said to the Messmar.

He pointed out that this achievement reflects the view of the future thought of the EAU and continuous investment in the construction of a resistant and advanced statistical system based on digital preparation. It supports the global competitiveness of the country and its main objectives to achieve integration between entities, support future planning in several vital sectors, develop policies, the participation of the promotion community and position the EAU as a global leader.

Open data refers to a collection of data and statistics available for free that can be used, reused, distributed or shared by any individual or organization without restrictions. Governments around the world make the thesis data sets accessible to all online. In the current edition of the ODIN report, the EAU achieved 92 points in the data opening component and 74 points in data coverage, with a general score of 84 points.
