Pope Leo XIV returned to the balcony on Sunday, where he was presented to the world as the new leader of the Roman Catholic Church only a few days ago, using his first Sunday speech to the faithful to ask for peace.

“Never again war,” he told a roar of the massive crowd that had gathered in the Plaza de San Pedro, an attraction that directed the most powerful leaders in the world. He pointed out that it was almost 80 years until the day that the “immense tragedy” of World War II ended and quoted Pope Francis, his predecessor, who referred to the current wave of violence worldwide as “a third merchandise.”

Leo asked for an “authentic, fair and lasting peace” in Ukraine and the liberation of all prisoners in that war. The Pope said children should be returned to their families. Althegh was not specific to which children he was referring to, many Ukrainian children have bone tasks for the duration of Russia, the war against their family’s wathes.

Leo also made a plea for a high immediate fire in Gaza and for humanitarian aid to be distributed “to the exhausted civilian population” in the territory, as well as the return of the hostage tasks in the assault of Hamas to Israel in October. 7, 2023.

Leo called La Paz in Ukraine and a high fire in Gaza resonated issues that Francis spoke regularly in his Sunday addresses.

He sent a special greeting to “all mothers” while families celebrated Mother’s Day in Italy, the United States and some other countries.

Sunday also marked World Prayer Day for Vocations, he said. Leo said he prayed along with the faithful that more Catholics take vocations to the priesthood and religious orders. “The Church has a great need for them!” Hey said. The number of people who join the priesthood and religious orders have decreased in many countries.

Candice Dias de California, was in the square to listen to the Pope to deliver his first traditional Sunday blessing at noon at local time. “Hey, be very realistic,” he said. “It’s humble.”

Leo has been occupied since he became a potato. On Friday, he celebrated his first Mass in the Sistine Chapel as a pontiff with the cardinals who had chosen him the previous day. In his homily, he promised to align with “common people” and not with the rich and powerful.

The Pope with the cardinals again on Saturday, saying that Francis’s work would continue to lead the Church in a more missionary direction, greater cooperation between the leaders of the Church and a lock of the marginalized people.

Mrs. Dias added that now that the conclave that chosen it was over, she hoped that her journey through the Vatican, scheduled for Monday, including the Sistine Chapel. The chapel had been closed to the public even before the conclave began preparing it for the vote, but is scheduled to reopen on Monday.
