RTA Launches Film Competition Showcasing Causes and Risks of Traffic Accidents – UAE

The Dubai Road and Transportation Authority (RTA) has launched a competence focused on students aimed at the filmmakers of the University and the Postgraduate, encouraging the creation of short films that explore the causes and risks of traffic accidents. The initiative is carried out under the road safety film festival. The competition involves three categories, with winners of the first place in each certificate of achievement and recognition, together with cash awards.

Open shipments on April 7, 2025 and closed on July 14, 2025. Tickets can be sent through the competition portal on the RTA website

(https://www.rta.ae/wps/portal/rta/ae/promotion/road-safety-film- festival Participants can access detailed information on eligibility, evaluation criteria and presentation guidelines.

The competition is open to university students between 18 and 35, with accepted tickets, whether individual or in teams of up to three members. Participants can send multiple entries in different categories, prove that all films are original, completely created and produced by the student or equipment, and make a significant contribution to road safety by clearly addressing the key traffic genes.

Ahmed Al Khzaimy, Traffic Director of the RTA Traffic and Highway Agency, declared: “The competition aims to train students to show their creativity and talent in the production of impressive educational and awareness films that promote the beginning of traffic.

“RTA has assigned cash awards for the three main winners in each of the categories: films that highlight the dangers of the sudden lane game, the risks associated with driving distractions and insecure behaviors that imply the use of bicycles and,” he said. “

Al Khzaimy added: “RTA remains committed to meet the objectives of the Dubai traffic security strategy, which puts a strong emphasis on increasing awareness among school and university students. In particular, they represent a vital segment and capable of young people who can actively contribute to advance in road safety, in collaboration with public and private entities of the sector.”

“The themes of the film were carefully selected according to recent traffic statistics, which identified the sudden lane outings and driver distractions as two of the main causes of fatal traffic accidents. A third category was introduced to address the significant and rapid increase of Baviours insecure in the use of soft mobility in recent years,” he concluded.
