The United Arab Emirates (EAU) have assured the presidency of the Interpol Government Committee, a key advisory body within the International Police Organization.
Lieutenant Colonel Dana Humaid to Marchuqi, general director of the Office of International Affairs of the Ministry of Interior, received 67 percent of the votes of the Interpol Member States during the committee session at the organization’s headquarters in Lyon, France, according to a statement from the declaration of Emirates news agency (WAM).
The Government Committee, recently established as a permanent agency at the 92nd General Assembly of Interpol in Glasgow at the end of 2024, arose from the transformation of the former work group on governance.
The EAU become the first nation to preside over this newly formed permanent committee.

The responsibilities of the committee include examining and improving Interpol’s government structure.
It will review the Interpol Statute, the General Regulations and its annexes, providing advice to the General Assembly with respect to the amendments and interpretations of proposals.
Composed of high -level experts in governance and public international law of the Member States, the Committee aims to guarantee broad participation in its work.
As president of a period of two years, the EAU will direct discussions, facilitation decisions, will inform the General Assembly and the Executive Committee, and will coordinate the Member States to implement the committee’s mandate.
