He said that the idea came from an Indian old woman with the library, who was also working on her thesis. She informed him that the same documents were available in Mumbai, which caused her decision to continue her investigation there.
His highness shared that he had requested the help of Fiona Wilkie, a British library employee who specialized in Portuguese documents. With the approval of the director of the library, his highness organized his early retirement, which covered the expenses himself, and used it directly to support his efforts in the meeting of Portuguese historical records.
HH explained that the British library had preserved many Portuguese documents after the recovery of Mumbai of the Portuguese, as part of the efforts to better understand and study the region.
